At ODLS, we take pride in mastering this art, armed with a diverse range of specialised equipment designed to conquer even the most daunting challenges.

Join us on an exhilarating journey as we delve into the core features of our Transport Equipment, unravelling how the ODLS team leverages these to achieve peak   performance in heavy haulage and lift services.

Over-Dimensional Cartage

Heavy Haulage Prime Movers

These prime movers, capable of handling loads up to 250 tons, are like the heavyweight champions of transportation. They’re built for the toughest jobs, effortlessly moving massive loads that exceed standard limits. With their immense power and robust design, they ensure that even the largest and heaviest cargo will reach its destination securely and on schedule. The ODLS difference being the sheer number of 250 ton rated prime movers in our fleet – less vehicles required for on-road capability means a shorter overall combination length, an important factor to minimise third party involvement and cost.

Beam Set Transport

Beam set transport refers to the specialised transportation of large and heavy items, typically industrial components or structures, using beams or beam sets, where the load is suspended low to the ground supported at either end by platform modules. This method ensures precise handling and stability during transit, making it a cornerstone of logistics operations dealing with oversized or Superload cargo. The robust structure of beam set transport equipment, consisting of sturdy beams and supports, allows for the safe and secure movement of even the most massive and unwieldy items. It’s designed to handle the challenges posed by bridging axle weight limitations and limited travel envelopes found in built up areas.

While this configuration is at the extremities of on-road travel dimensions, the stability and ability to manoeuvre offers reliability and safety throughout the journey.

Platform Trailers

Platform trailers are specialised vehicles designed for heavy haulage and capable of carrying large and heavy items such as machinery and equipment. Due to their customisable configurations and impressive load-bearing capacity, they are considered the unsung heroes of transportation. These trailers can be adapted to various sizes and shapes, making them highly versatile for different cargo types.

ODLS leverages their exceptional performance in controlling height, stabilising and turning mechanisms to handle the larger portion of their oversized and heavy loads.

Escort Vehicles, VMS and Utilities

Super load beam set transport & overdimensional cartage relies heavily on support vehicles such as Oversized Escort Vehicles, Variable Message Sign (VMS) vehicles and gear carrying Utilities. ODLS in house fleet of support vehicles with company operators, ensures reliable compliance to Permit conditions and minimises risk for unexpected occurrences during the delivery  process.

Tray Trucks

Tray Trucks refers to specialised trucks designed to transport smaller components and equipment. These trucks have trays or flatbeds that can accommodate a variety of cargo. With a capacity of 8–12 tons, they are suitable for handling half semis and smaller loads. This category is particularly relevant for the tight access found in inner city locations and limited space within civil works, manufacturing or warehouse facilities.

Low Loaders & Specialist Low Loaders

Low-loaders with a capacity of 45-60 tons under the category are specialised trailers designed to transport heavy and oversized loads that exceed standard dimensions. These low loaders have a capacity of up to 60 tons, making them suitable for carrying substantial equipment, machinery, or structures that cannot be transported using regular trailers. They are equipped with features such as adjustable heights, widths and ramps to facilitate the safe and efficient loading and unloading of the cargo. Low loaders play a crucial role in the transportation industry, especially for moving large items that require careful handling and specialised equipment.

Extendable Semis

Extendable semis, with a capacity of up to 44 meters in the Over-Dimensional Cartage category, are like the stretch limousines of heavy transport. They’re designed to handle long and oversized loads that go beyond standard dimensions, offering flexibility and adaptability to accommodate cargoes such as lengthy steel beams or pipes. With their adjustable length feature, they ensure the safe and efficient transportation of over-length items, their ability to close up when empty making them an indispensable part of the trailer fleet.

Crane Vehicles

Crane Trays

ODLS utilises Crane trays with a capacity of up to 21t/m – these are specialised vehicles designed to have a crane mounted for lifting as well as a tray for transporting loads. The 21t/m capacity indicates that these cranes can theoretically handle 21 ton at 1 meter from the centre of the slew ring. While this is not practically possible due to the material dimension of the crane itself, this capacity measurement is a crucial element of the lift chart for determining the maximum weight that the vehicle can safely lift and transport. These crane trays are essential equipment in industries that require self-loading transport, such as construction, infrastructure development, and manufacturing.

Crane Semis

Crane Semis are specialised Prime Movers equipped with subframes capable of mounting a crane, in addition to having the ability to tow tri-axle trailers. ODLS fleet includes up to 85t/m capacity, amongst the highest in Australia. This high capacity makes them suitable for lifting and transporting more substantial and bulky items. These crane semis are commonly used in industries such as construction, engineering, and logistics, where there’s a need to lift and move heavy materials and equipment. In remote locations, they offer the advantage of combining transportation capabilities with crane functionality, providing a versatile, cost effective solution.

As we conclude our expedition through the realm of heavy haulage transport and lift services, one truth becomes abundantly clear: specialised equipment is the beating heart of our industry. From beam set transport to crane semis, each piece of machinery plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of even the most complex projects. As we look towards the future, the horizon brims with promise, fuelled by advancements in technology and innovation. At ODLS, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of possibility, one heavy load at a time. Join us on this journey as we continue to redefine the art of overdimensional transportation and logistics.
